How to read this 2026 muhurat matrix
Use this as a working shortlist, not as the final panchang. Griha pravesh timing changes by city, sunrise, tithi, nakshatra and family custom. The moving risk changes by date pressure. That is our lane.
The price flag is based on NCR demand behaviour from our quote review: mid-month weekdays are usually easier, Saturdays are premium, and the 28th to 3rd window needs early booking. Bhai, the date can be shubh and still be badly planned.
Remaining 2026 month-by-month shortlist
| Month | Working shubh shortlist | Price flag | Booking note |
|---|---|---|---|
| June | Late June dates after city panchang check | Medium | Heat is still high. Book morning loading and keep water for crew. |
| July | Mid-July panchang-confirmed slots | Low to medium | Monsoon discount is possible, but closed truck and dry loading matter. |
| August | Mid-August slots outside avoid-periods | Medium | Rain and school routine can complicate high-rise moves. |
| September | Post-heavy-rain windows after priest check | Low to medium | Good for flexible families, weak for last-minute month-end moves. |
| October | Festival-season windows with panchang check | Medium to high | Weather improves, but festival leave and traffic can hit availability. |
| November | Strong weather month, confirm tithi and nakshatra | Medium | Usually calmer than peak summer, book 7 to 14 days early. |
| December | Early and mid-month windows before year-end rush | Medium | Local moves are fine. Intercity delivery needs fog buffer. |
What makes a date auspicious
Families usually check tithi, nakshatra, weekday, lagna, Rahu Kalam, family gotra rules and whether the home is ready for entry. Commonly referenced favourable nakshatras include Rohini, Mrigashirsha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Pushya, Anuradha, Revati and Uttara Bhadrapada.
Avoid-periods often include Amavasya, eclipses, Pitru Paksha, some Chaturmas periods, and cases where Guru asta or Shukra asta affects the family priest's call. Different calendars vary. We do not pretend otherwise.
What movers do differently on muhurat moves
Muhurat moves need sharper slot control. The crew may need to load goods the previous evening, deliver heavy furniture before the puja, or hold cartons in the truck while the family does first entry. This should be written in the quote.
Ask for arrival time, supervisor number, truck size, crew count and waiting rule. If your puja is at 10:20 AM and the society lift opens at 11:00 AM, the plan has already failed unless entry and goods movement are separated.
Goods before, entry after
Many families move beds, wardrobes, appliances and cartons before griha pravesh. Then the first ritual entry is done with kalash, idols and puja items. After the puja, the remaining goods can come in or unpacking can begin.
This split can cost a little more if the truck waits or makes two trips. It can still be worth it. Read the full sequence at what to shift before griha pravesh.
Booking lead time for shubh dates
For a 1 BHK or few-items move, 5 to 7 days can work if the date is mid-week. For a 2 BHK or 3 BHK, use 10 to 14 days. For villa, office or intercity moves, lock the slot earlier, especially if the date is Saturday or month-end.
Do not pay high advance only because someone says, "last slot bacha hai." Ask for the written scope first. Date urgency is where weak movers make unclear promises.
Price factors on shubh dates
A muhurat date can be affordable when it lands on a mid-month weekday. The same date can become expensive when it lands near rent handover, Saturday, Sunday or festival labour leave. That is why a calendar date alone is incomplete.
Use this quick comparison before calling movers:
| Date factor | Price effect | What to write in quote |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-month weekday | Usually lower | Normal crew and vehicle confirmation |
| Saturday muhurat | Higher demand | Exact arrival window and backup contact |
| Month-end muhurat | Premium risk | Waiting charge and same-day delivery rule |
| Monsoon muhurat | Mixed | Closed truck and waterproof packing |
| Intercity muhurat | Needs buffer | Pickup date, delivery window and transit mode |
Muhurat moving checklist
- Confirm the final city panchang with your priest.
- Ask the society for lift timing before booking the mover.
- Decide whether goods movement and first entry are separate.
- Write truck arrival, crew count, supervisor number and waiting rule.
- Keep puja items in a marked carton, not mixed with kitchen cartons.
- Compare one backup date in case the chosen slot becomes too expensive.
Red flags on a muhurat move
Be careful if the mover promises exact puja-time delivery without asking about lift slot, distance, packing volume or truck parking. Be careful if the quote does not say whether waiting is free for any period. Be extra careful if the mover asks for a large advance because "muhurat rush" but will not share GST, address or supervisor details.
A genuine mover may still ask for advance on a high-demand date. The difference is simple: they will put the plan in writing.
How to brief the mover
Send one message with pickup, drop, BHK, floor, lift status, society timing, puja time and whether goods can enter before the family. Do not describe the job only as "muhurat shifting." That tells the mover the date is important, but not how to execute the move.
Ask for the reply in writing. The reply should mention truck arrival, loading start, travel estimate, unloading plan, waiting charge and supervisor number. If the mover cannot write these basics, the date is not protected.
Use the planner for quick comparison
The shifting date planner turns the same logic into a quick month view. It shows cheap, premium, shubh and avoid flags. The planner does not replace panchang. It helps you avoid choosing a logistically painful date by mistake.
Final rule for 2026
Pick the muhurat with your priest. Pick the move plan with your eyes open. If a date is culturally important, protect it with a written moving plan, not hope. That is the difference between a peaceful griha pravesh and a truck stuck outside the gate.
